Rare in dry pastures in parts of England. Fassnidge, quoting the Victorian History and Barrett, from the 19th Century, referenced this species as occurring in 'Basingstoke' (VC12). Without confirmation or further details this has to be treated as unconfirmed. Wingspan 9-11 mm. Reminiscent of
C. cosmophorana but smaller, with the forewing relatively broader and marked with narrower silvery metallic striae; further distinguished by the presence of whitish spots or patches in the apical area of the hindwing [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Dyer's Greenweed, over-wintering in a cocoon.
