Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in fruit from Asia. This Oriental species has spread to many places across the world, where it is a pest of peach and other species of cultivated Prunus. In Hampshire two specimens are known to have been bred from imported fruit, both of which were purchased from Sainsbury's in Winchester in the late 1980s. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 11-14 mm. Distinguished from G. funebrana by its generally smaller size, the better defined fasciate markings and white discocellular spot of the forewing, and in the male also by the patch of pale scales along the middle of the termen of the hindwing [Bradley]. Larva feeds within fruit of Peach and Pear, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
