First recorded in Britain in 2010, when an individual was caught at light in Bernwood Forest, Buckinghamshire on 4 June. A second individual was taken on 7 May 2011 in East Kent but not identified until 2017 (Ent Rec 129: 141). A fairly widespread species in central and northern Europe, with the Netherlands being the closest country of residence to our island, and across Scandinavia. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Very similar in appearance to
C. illutana and dissection will be required for confirmed determination. The larvae are known to feed under the bark of fir and spruce species, with a continental flight-period of late May to early July.
