Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) and a fairly recent addition to the British list. This species was first reported in Britain in 1984, but the first known British specimen was subsequently shown to have been taken at Southsea, South Hampshire, on 10 June 1975. The moth has since been found breeding in cones of Larch but not, so far, in Hampshire. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 12-14 mm. Larva feeds within young cones of Norway Spruce, European Silver-fir and European Larch.
