Rare in sand-dunes at Sandwich, Kent. The Victorian History for Hampshire and Isle of Wight (1900) lists this species as being present on the 'sandhills' of Hayling Island. Goater (1974) comments that 'the record seems reasonable, though Meyrick gives Kent only'. As such it is not deemed to have been reliably recorded in our area. Wingspan 8.5-11 mm. The most likely confusion species is
C. blandella, which see for differences. Larva feeds within seed capsules of Little Mouse-ear, living between seeds spun together with silk.
