Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in open grassland, hedgerows and parks in parts of England, where more numerous in the south-east. In Hampshire recorded only once to date, at Farnborough in August 1996. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 9-11.5 mm. Similar to
C. viscariella,
C. alsinella and
C. junctella, from which differs in the shape of the fuscous blotch and the angle it makes with the costa. Larva feeds on flowers and seeds of Common Mouse-ear and Common Chickweed.
