Occurrence in the British Isles unconfirmed. This native of North America is included on the British list on the basis of three individuals said to have been taken near London at the start of the 19th Century, probably either imported or misidentified. Wingspan 21-30 mm. Reminiscent of a dark form of
Garden Dart Euxoa nigricans. Larva feeds on various fruits and vegetables, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas; no evidence of breeding in the UK.
