Suspected rare immigrant from North America, recorded for the first time in Britain at Hoylake, Cheshire on 31 July 1936 close to shipping lanes into the port of Liverpool, probably accidentally imported or ship-assisted, but the possibility of it being a genuine migrant cannot be discounted, with no further records to date. Wingspan 20-24 mm. No evidence of breeding in the UK.
