Occurrence in the British Isles unconfirmed. This European species is included on the British list on the basis of a number of larvae said to have been found near Tuddenham, Suffolk in 1827 which were used in error to illustrate the Water Betony figure in a guide to the larvae of British lepidoptera. Very limited evidence of breeding in the UK.
