Local in bogs and fens, in northern England and Scotland. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 30-38 mm. This species, if species it is, was introduced to the British list in 1950. It has always been confused with
Small Square-spot D. rubi and no constant diagnostic character has been revealed for separating it. Larva feeds on various herbaceous plants, including Dandelion, Foxglove, Dock and Heather.
