Nationally scarce (Na) in reed-beds, fens and marshes in parts of East Anglia, where resident, and south-central England, including Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight the only records of this suspected immigrant for the area are of singletons taken at Titchfield Haven in 1948 and at Shanklin in 1971 and 1975. Wingspan 32-40 mm. Shape of forewing distinctive: long and narrow, with very oblique termen and very pointed apex. Larva feeds on Common Reed, over-wintering as a pupa.
