A rare Red Data Book species, on calcareous grassland and sand-dunes in parts of Kent, predominantly coastal, a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Also occurs as a vary rare immigrant from mainland Europe, appearing sporadically on the southern coast of England. In Hampshire there are just four records, the most recent being at Southsea in July 1959 and Rowlands Castle in July 1962. On the Isle of Wight, recorded for the first time at Ventnor in August 2005. Wingspan 26-31 mm. Unmistakable. Larva feeds on Common Restharrow.
