An endangered Red Data Book species, in unimproved, calcareous grassland, at four sites in Kent, a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 38-48 mm. Unmistakable. Larva feeds on Wild Marjoram, Common Knapweed and Common Bird's-foot Trefoil.
