A native of New Zealand, recorded recently in gardens near Helston in Cornwall, where believed introduced on garden plants. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 26-34 mm. Larva feeds on various trees and shrubs, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
