Local on coastal shingle and sandy beaches throughout much of southern England, and inland on dry sandy heaths in Breckland. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight locally common on coastal shingle. Wingspan male 12-15 mm, female 10-13 mm. The smallest crambid: general appearance of male not unlike Chrysoteuchia culmella, though much smaller and with quite different cross-lines [Goater]. Larva feeds within roots of various grasses and Sedge.
