Common in grassland, rough meadows and gardens throughout the British Isles. Widespread and very common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 20-24 mm. Diagnostic, silvery V-shaped postmedian line is always visible. Larva feeds within roots of various grasses, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas.
