Extinct in the British Isles, formerly known only from the Scottish Highlands, where recorded near Perth in July 1890. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 22-29 mm. Very similar to C. permutatella and C. osthelderi but with subterminal white line in forewing curving away from, not parallel to, termen.
