Local in flower meadows, alpine pastures and upland grassland; 900-2200 m, in suitable habitat in central Europe, Italy, Macedonia and Bulgaria. In Britain, one was found in a collection of
Ringlet from Argyll, Scotland, although half the specimens were unlabelled. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 40 mm. Larva feeds on Sheep's-fescue and Sweet Vernal-grass.
