Hantsmoths

Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in damp moorland in parts of the Scottish Highlands. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 11-12 mm. Distinguished from P. splendidulana by the strongly angulated basal patch, the better-defined median fascia and the absence of black discal and supratornal spots in the forewing and the uniformly fuscous hindwing [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Bog-myrtle and Bog Bilberry, living between leaves spun together with silk.
