Classification

Family:Tortricidae
Subfamily:Olethreutinae
Genus:Pammene
Species:ignorata
Authority:Kuznetsov, 1968

Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in parts of south-western Britain, where recorded on just a few occasions. The first was at Axminster, Devon in June 1986; in 2006, two were found in Wetmoor, Gloucestershire; one was in Lineover Wood, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in June 2009. There is probably a colony in this area and it is likely that this is a previously overlooked resident species. One taken by Brian Elliott on Chilbolton Down in 2002 was re-determined as this species in 2014 through correspondence with Leif Aarvik, a European entomological expert. Wingspan 10-12 mm. Voucher specimen should be retained for confirmation of identification. Larva feeds on Ash and Elm.
