Rare (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on moorland in the Scottish Highlands, usually from 650 m to 1000 m above sea level. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 15-19 mm. Resembles obscurely marked forms of
O. metallicana, but differs in the narrower and more acutely angled forewing and the narrower, irregularly shaped median fascia which is interrupted above the middle [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Bearberry and Bilberry.
