Classification

Family:Tortricidae
Subfamily:Tortricinae
Genus:Falseuncaria
Species:degreyana
Authority:(McLachlan, 1869)

Vulnerable (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on heathland in parts of Breckland. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 12-15 mm. May be distinguished from F. ruficiliana by the delicate pink flush of the forewing and the distinctly whitish-edged median fascia; resembles C. roseana and C. flaviciliana in having the forewing flushed with pink, but differs from C. roseana by absence of a dark subapical line in the cilia of the forewing, and from C. flaviciliana by the ground colour of the forewing which is more subdued and greyish white compared with cream-white [Bradley]. Larva feeds on flowers of Common Toadflax and Ribwort Plantain, over-wintering in a cocoon.
