Hantsmoths

Local on high moorland from 200-700 m and in bogs at lower elevations in northern parts of Britain, where widely distributed on hills throughout Scotland, northern England and Wales, southwards to Herefordshire and Exmoor, with unconfirmed records from Kent, Dorset and Devon. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-16 mm. Day-flying on sunny afternoons, also in dull weather if the temperature is high. Larva feeds on Bilberry.
