Local in hedgerows and moorland throughout much of Britain. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan male 20-23 mm, female 10-11 mm. One of the latest species to emerge in the year; the male is readily recognised by the elongate forewings with distinctly greyish coloration; the female is brachypterous [Bradley]. Larva feeds on shoots of various shrubs, over-wintering as an egg.
