Local on heathland, moorland and in woodland throughout much of the British Isles. In Hampshire recorded rarely from the New Forest bogs and not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-16 mm. Distinguishing features of this species are its small size, the pale ochreous general coloration of the forewing and lack of any strong markings [Bradley]. Larva feeds on Bog Bilberry, Bilberry, Bog-myrtle and similar, living within a spun or rolled leaf, over-wintering in a cocoon.
