Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) on heathland in the south and south-east of England, from Hampshire and Kent northwards to Suffolk. There are very few records of this species in mainland Hampshire, and none recently. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 13-15 mm. The most likely confusion species is
N. peliella, which see for differences. Larva feeds on Sheep's Sorrel, living within a silken tube or tent.
