Recorded infrequently through accidental importation in wool from mainland Europe in warehouses and known only from moths collected in a wool warehouse at Liverpool in 1922. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 11-17 mm. Very similar to
Tinea flavescentella (dark suffusion at base of costa less extensive) and
Tinea murariella (forewing yellower). Larva feeds on woollen materials.
