Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) and recorded from woodland in Kent, Sussex and Hampshire. First discovered in Britain as a single male taken at Childs Forstal Wood near Blean, Kent in 1973 (initially described as Ectoedemia bradfordi, it was found to be the same species as the, at the time, only specimen of auriciliella taken in France in 1908); subsequently a female and the second British specimen, taken by W.Fassnidge, turned up in a collection in Copenhagen, labelled Southampton 1937. In recent years, two further individuals have been trapped in the Wickham area, and it is therefore evidently still present at very low density.
