Nationally scarce (Na) in orchards, woodland and gardens in parts of Sussex, Surrey, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. In Hampshire first recorded as a vacated mine on pear at Portsmouth in October 1985, with a few further mines, one occupied, at Mottisfont Abbey in 2015. It was discovered new to North Hampshire in 2023, at Blackwater on the Hampshire-Berkshire border in September. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 4.2-5.2 mm. The larva mines leaves of Pear, over-wintering as a pupa. The mines are described in the following link:
