Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in gardens and urban areas in south-eastern England, north to Lancashire. Not recorded in the present day county of Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date, but mines on domestic pear were recorded in 1943 in the Bournemouth area (VC11, but now in Dorset). Wingspan 4-5 mm. Larva mines leaves of Pear, both wild and, more frequently, cultivated, over-wintering as a pupa.
