Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from north-eastern Europe, appearing along the east coast of Britain, often associated with immigration of species such as Scarce Silver Y and Great Brocade. Prior to 1979, only four British specimens are known. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 38-44 mm. Voucher specimen should be retained for confirmation of identification. Larva polyphagous on herbaceous plants such as Bilberry, Rosebay Willowherb and Great Willowherb, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
