Nationally scarce (Nb) in sand-dunes and on sandy beaches in parts of England, Wales and southern Scotland, predominantly coastal. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight locally common on coastal sand-dunes, especially those in south Hayling Island. Wingspan 36-42 mm. A relatively well-marked and distinctive wainscot. Larva feeds on Marram-grass.
