Found across much of southern Europe, including western, central and southern France, and parts of Italy, Spain and Portugal, and North Africa east to Asia Minor. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 28-34 mm. Resembles Brindled Green D. eremita but greener and lacking the sharply demarcated and dentate subterminal line of that species, with a broad, pale terminal band and prominent dark tornal spot. Larva feeds on Oak, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
