Suspected rare immigrant from southern Europe, recorded for the first and only time at sugar at Brockenhurst, New Forest on 16 August 1935 (Tidman, 1936, Entom. 69: 224). The moth was acquired by Sir Beckwith Whitehouse and sold in 1943 (1944, Entom. 77: 46). Wingspan 37-47 mm. Larva feeds on Gorse.
