Nationally scarce (Nb) on moorland, open woodland, plantations and scrub, in Scotland and the Lake District. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 38-44 mm. Fairly unmistakable. Larva feeds on various woody plants, including Sallow, Bramble, Raspberry, Bearberry, Bilberry and Cowberry, over-wintering in a silken chamber.
