Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from southern Europe, appearing in southern England just twice: at Dartmouth, Devon, on 23 September 1903 and Crowborough, East Sussex, on 30 September 1990. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 40-44 mm. The most likely confusion species is
Passenger Dysgonia algira, which see for differences. Larva feeds on Bramble and Oak, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
