Extinct in the British Isles, formerly in ancient oak woodland in Hampshire. During the 19th Century, this species occurred rarely in the New Forest and hardly anywhere else in the country. It was last seen in numbers in 1872, and the very last record was in 1898. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 35-39 mm. Larva feeds on lichens growing on Pedunculate Oak and Beech, no evidence of breeding in the UK.
