Common in open areas, waste ground, roadside verges and gardens throughout the British Isles, most numerous in south-eastern England; widespread in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight, but has become less common in recent years. Wingspan 21-24 mm. Fairly unmistakable combination of brown border to termen and costa, with white thorax which contrasts with brown head and abdomen. Larva feeds on Mugwort, over-wintering as a pupa.
