Nationally scarce (Na) in damp woodland and other sheltered, damp areas, in northern England and Scotland, rare elsewhere. Unlikely to be recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 26-30 mm.
Yellow-barred Brindle Acasis viretata is sometimes misidentified as Barred Carpet, but the latter species has a black basal area on the forewing. Larva feeds on Dandelion, Common Chickweed and Knotgrass.
