Nationally scarce (Nb) in damp woodland, ravines and sunken lanes in southern England, Wales and southern Ireland. In Hampshire the majority of recent records are restricted to two main areas: in and around Woolmer Forest and north-west of the New Forest. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight since 2007. Wingspan 31-34 mm. Fairly unmistakable, with two teeth on the projection of the dark central band into the white postmedian area. Larva feeds on Stitchwort, over-wintering as a pupa.
