Common in woodland, hedgerows, gardens, fens, marshes and river-banks throughout the British Isles, but absent from the north of Scotland. Widespread and common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 17-22 mm. Confusion species include Treble Brown Spot I. trigeminata. Larva feeds on Cow Parsley, Burnet-saxifrage and Hedge Bedstraw.
