Occurrence in the British Isles unconfirmed. This North American species is included on the British list on the basis of a single individual said to have been taken at Bridlington, North Yorkshire in July 1897, probably an accidental introduction. Wingspan 63-90 mm. Similar to
Striped Hawk-moth H. livornica but with three white stripes on each side of the thorax. No evidence of breeding in the UK.
