Common in grassland and rough meadows throughout the British Isles. Widespread and common in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight. Wingspan 16-20 mm. One of the commoner species of grass moth (Crambinae), and a frequent visitor to light traps, where recognisable by its small size and broad, pale dorsal streak. Larva feeds within lower stems of Sheep's-fescue and other low grasses, living within a silken gallery.
