Very rare immigrant (less than 10 previous UK records) from southern Europe, Canary Islands or North Africa. Recorded only once in Britain, in a Northampton garden on 17 August 2005. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Very similar to E. ocellea, from which separated only by dissection of the genitalia.
