Recorded infrequently through accidental importation from North America. One was said to have been taken near London and Plymouth in 1830s. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 30 mm. Larva feeds on Cucumber and Melon, causing sufficient damage to be a serious pest in some areas; no evidence of breeding in the UK.
