Rare immigrant to southern England from southern Europe, arriving in some years in sufficient numbers to breed. In Hampshire not recorded since 1958. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 18-22 mm. The most likely confusion species is
Diasemiopsis ramburialis, but
D. reticularis can always be recognised by the postmedian lines of fore- and hindwing, which curve or bend strongly into tornal region [Goater]. Larva feeds on withered leaves of herbaceous plants such as Greater Plantain, Chicory, Hawk's-beard and Ox-tongue.
