Nationally scarce (Nb) along woodland rides, woodland edges and on limestone pavements and cliffs in parts of England and Wales, rare in Scotland and Ireland, a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. In Hampshire presumed to be long extinct. Not recorded from the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 20-23 mm. Unmistakable. Larva feeds on flowers of Goldenrod.
