Widespread in mainland Europe, except Belgium, Portugal and the Netherlands. It could perhaps be mistaken at first glance for P. despicata but it is larger and generally less well-marked. The first specimen for Britain was taken at Cheriton near Folkestone, Kent on 23 June 2012.
