Nationally scarce (Nb) on coastal sandhills in England, Wales, south Scotland and Ireland, and inland on the Breckland sands of Norfolk and Suffolk. In Hampshire confined to sand dunes at Hengistbury Head and on Hayling Island, especially at Sandy Point and on Sinah Common. On the Isle of Wight, confined to the extreme east and west of the Island. Wingspan 19-27 mm. This species resembles certain crambids, but the more rounded termen and sandy coloration distinguish it; may also be confused with Pima boisduvaliella, which see for differences [Goater]. Larva feeds within roots of Marram-grass, Sheep's-fescue and other coastal grasses.
