Nationally scarce (Nb) on chalk downland, in quarries, embankments and dry open areas throughout much of southern England, rare elsewhere in Britain. In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight infrequently encountered on the remnants of chalk downland. Wingspan 22-32 mm. Unmistakable. Larva feeds on Common Rock-rose.
